Kinder + is a new initiative designed to facilitate access to 4 year old kindergarten for all children in Boroondara. One of the purposes of this program is to make 4 year old kindergarten both affordable and accessible for all Boroondara families. A fee subsidy may be available to eligible children who are enrolled or wish to be enrolled in a 4 year old funded place in a community managed kindergarten in Boroondara. Other 4 year old children who live in Boroondara may also be eligible.

The program has two key aspects. The first aspect is fee support in the form of a subsidy. Kinder + subsidies will be available for families who have low incomes or experiencing economic or social difficulties. The subsidies will assist with annual fees and charges or in special circumstances, other kindergarten related expenses.

The second aspect of Kinder + is to provide assistance to families through the network of local community support agencies. One such need may be transportation to kindergarten.

All children should have the opportunity to attend kindergarten. Kindergarten is a vital part of a child’s development. Many children in our local community miss out on this opportunity. Foundation Boroondara together with Camcare, the Rotary Club of Balwyn and the Rotary Club of Hawthorn will work in partnership to ensure all 4 year old children have the best start in life by attending kindergarten prior to commencing primary school.

Kinder + is a joint initiative of Foundation Boroondara, Camcare, the Rotary Club of Balwyn and the Rotary Club of Hawthorn.
