Our vision is to encourage community groups and individuals to create or continue activities that involve the people of Boroondara and promote active citizenship to strengthen community engagement.
The Social inclusion small grants program provides one-off funding for local residents, community organisations and groups to assist them in undertaking projects and activities that involve socially isolated people and improve the quality of life for Boroondara residents. The idea can be anything, as long as it is designed and undertaken by individuals or community groups, for the benefit of socially isolated people in Boroondara.
We fund projects that:
- Are initiated and run in Boroondara
- Engage and involve people in the Boroondara community.
- Create positive change for socially isolated people In Boroondara.
We do not fund:
- Applications that are capable of attracting funding from other sources.
- Applications that do not support the needs of the local community.
- Projects run by political or religious groups seeking to promote their core beliefs.
- Applications from individuals.
Applicants can apply for a minimum grant of $50 and a maximum of $500. Examples of grants funded include:
- A workshop to assist people suffering from anxiety and depression
- Purchase of tools for a 'men's shed' group at a community centre
- Exercise equipment for older men in Boroondara to improve their physical and social health
Second round of Social inclusion small grants for 2010 will close Friday 24 September 2010.
