"The Chances for Children Scholarship has enabled me to pursue what I love and push me a little further towards my dreams. 2008 Boroondara Young Citizen of the Year

"Winning the grant from Chances for Children was the best thing to happen to me in a long time. After moving out of home at only 16, keeping up with school work was becoming a big problem for me. I had limited resources and was struggling to keep up. Most assessed work at school has to be done on computer and without a computer of my own, I was so stressed. Ever since receiving my laptop, school has been so much easier for me. I love writing all my essays on my laptop, wherever I am .I also plan to go on to university and do a bachelor of Journalism. I am so incredibly lucky to be given this opportunity and chance to succeed. If it weren't for Chances for Children, I would not be doing so well at school today."
Ebony - Kew High School- Year 12

It has also allowed me the opportunity to take on a complex final year project of designing a carbon fibre racing mountain bike. I am grateful for the generosity of Boroondara Foundation to assist students such as myself."

RECIPIENT FEEDBACK - SEPTEMBER 2009 GRANT ROUND

"On behalf of the Committee of Management of Samarinda Aged Services, we thank you for your generous grant of $500 towards the Elsie Salter House Woodwork Group.

Your practical assistance confirms that we are providing a worthwhile service and gives encouragement to plan for the future so that we can continue to meet the needs of the elderly in our community. Your generous grant once again will greatly assist us in addressing those needs and will be acknowledged within our community."

"On behalf of the residents of Carnsworth I would like to sincerely thank Foundation Boroondara for your generous grant of $500 towards our Carnsworth/Carey Intergenerational program for 2010. As stated this will go towards providing an additional bus and entry on our outing in May for residents of Carnsworth, taking the total number of residents attending to over 40 plus 50 students from Carey to transport the residents around."

Tim Philips, Uniting Aged Care Carsnworth/Carey Integration Project

"Thank you for supporting the musical event for people with multiple disabilities and their families. The event took place in December 2009 and was a fantastic success with over 100 attendees!

Your support of our event was much appreciated by the people we support, their friends, family members and carers and really made the festive season one to remember.

Once again on behalf of Able Australia and the people we support we thank you for your kind support."

Emily McCord, Able Australia, $500 grant recipient for Music as Therapy

"It is with great pleasure that we received the grant by your Board of $500 under your Social Inclusion program.

We have noted your request in relation to acknowledging the funding in the promotion of our activities. Unfortunately we have already printed our subscription brochures for the year but will certainly ensure that the Foundation is mentioned in the programs for each of the concerts during 2010.

The Camberwell Music Society has just completed a most enjoyable year in 2009. We have been very proud to present concerts by musicians of the highest calibre, without having to charge prices for subscriptions or tickets that many people would be unable to afford. Your grant will enable us to extend the benefit of our music program to many in aged care facilities who have been unable to attend in the past."

Eric McKay, Treasurer, Camberwell Music Society, Concerts at the Junction

"Thank you for the $500 grant to purchase a Wii kit. The Wii is proving to be a lot of fun among our residents. Even those watching are enjoying themselves. Also keeps some residents physically fit.

Those who are not mobile can still participate while in their wheelchair".
