How We Operate

Foundation Boroondara is an independent charitable organisation and an incorporated not-for-profit association, governed by a Board of Directors. We were established initially by the City of Boroondara and incorporated on 31 October 2002, a company limited by guarantee.

Board of Directors – Responsibility for the management of the Foundation rests with an experienced and committed professional Board. The Board are drawn from the wider Boroondara community and provide their time and expertise free of charge with honorary services from professional firms assisting the Directors.

Board meetings are held monthly (except January) and an annual report is produced each year.

Sub-committees – several project sub-committees have been formed to work on special projects and address specific issues. Committee meetings are normally held once a month, however can be held more or less frequently depending on the need.

Executive Officer our Executive Officer, is employed to oversee the day to day operations of the Foundation, supervise staff and play a key role in project research and development.

Funding - The Foundation sources funding from government, trusts, companies, local businesses and donations from members of the community.

Income Tax Exempt Charity and Deductible Gift Recipient Status – Foundation Boroondara attracts tax-deductible donations to its Public Fund and builds a capital base known as the Corpus, which is a fund of money invested in perpetuity. This provides a permanent and growing source of funding with the income earned each year being returned to the community as annual grants to tax deductible charities (deductible gift recipients) or other charitable projects.
